When Apple announced that it would launch the iPhone 13 series some months ago, I had different thoughts running through my mind as to which particular model to choose from.
Things got a little complicated when the series was finally launched because just as was Apple’s custom the series was a replica of the previous model, the iPhone 12.
As a tech savvy, features, storage, apps, smooth running operation of any device are what attracts me to new devices and hence, are in line with what fascinates me and also influences my purchasing decision. I mean I just love to explore new gadgets.
But one thing I’ve come to realize is that when it comes to buying gadgets, sometimes we make irrational decisions that end up ditching our initial plans.
I’ve once been in those shoes too, where I was stuck on which iPhone 12 model to buy and so it prompted me in writing this article.

Size
There’s a size for everyone in Apple’s iPhone 13 selection. The iPhone 13 mini is the way to go if you enjoy little phones. It weighs 4.97 ounces and measures 5.18 by 2.53 by 0.30 inches (HWD).
The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro are up next. The dimensions of both phones are 5.78 × 2.82 × 0.30 inches. However, because of its aluminum frame, the iPhone 13 is the lighter of the two at 6.14 ounces. Due to its stainless-steel rails, the iPhone 13 Pro weighs 7.19 ounces.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max is the heaviest and most obtrusive of the trio. It weighs 8.46 ounces and measures 6.33 × 3.07 × 0.30 inches.
Although size is a personal preference, the best belief is that the iPhone 13 is the best option for most individuals.
Display
Although the new iPhone 13 series has the same display size as its predecessors, the similarities end there. All four models are brighter and have a smaller notch, and you’ll get a few extra perks if you choose one of the Pro variants.
With a 5.4-inch, 2,340-by-1,080 OLED display, the iPhone 13 mini is the smallest of the bunch. The iPhone 13 has a 6.1-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2,532 by 1,170 pixels. When viewing HDR content, both models offer a maximum brightness of 800 nits and 1,200 nits, respectively.
Although the display on the iPhone 13 Pro is the same size as the iPhone 13, it is the cheapest model with Apple’s ProMotion technology. The proMotion has a variable refresh rate that varies between 10Hz and 120Hz dynamically. The iPhone 13 Pro’s display has a maximum brightness of 1,000 nits, and HDR content has a maximum brightness of 1,200 nits.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max has a 6.7-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2,778 by 1,284 pixels, which is ideal for streaming movies or gaming. It boasts ProMotion and is just as brilliant as the less costly iPhone 13 Pro.
The iPhone 13 should be more than capable for anyone who use their phones to watch the video or perform simple chores. For gamers and creative workers, the iPhone 13 Pro Max is probably worth the investment.
Camera
Apple changes its camera hardware and software on a yearly basis. The normal and Pro editions of the iPhone 13 can take some of the best images you can take with a smartphone, but there are some significant variations between them.
For starters, the iPhone 13 models now offer sensor-shift stabilization, which was previously only available on the iPhone 12 Pro models. Sensor-shift stabilization physically shifts camera sensors in order to reduce vibrations that blur or distort images. All of the lenses have a night mode option.
A new 12MP primary lens with an f/1.6 aperture is also included for enhanced low-light photography. The aperture of the 12MP ultra-wide lens is f/2.4. Apple’s ISP and computational photography software have also been updated.
The cameras on the 13 Pro and Pro Max are identical. The rear module features a 12MP primary lens with an f/1.5 aperture, huge 1.9-micron pixels, and macro shooting capabilities. The telephoto lens has a 12MP sensor and an f/2.8 aperture. The huge f/1.8 aperture on the 12MP ultra-wide lens improves low-light performance.
Macro photography mode, 3x optical zoom, ProRaw pictures, and, for the first time, Apple’s professional ProRes video capture are all supported on both Pro models. These features are not available on non-Pro devices.
The iPhone 13 Pro is the greatest option for smartphone photographers looking to save some cash. If you’re the kind who shoots images mostly on social media and uses Auto mode, the iPhone 13 should suffice.
Battery
This year’s iPhone 13 models all feature larger batteries, so you should be able to get through a full day of moderate use without any problems. While the batteries are slightly larger than those found in the iPhone 12 series, they are substantially more efficient, resulting in significantly longer battery life. The iPhone 13 mini’s battery capacity is 2,406mAh. While this is an improvement over the iPhone 12 mini’s 2,227mAh battery, it’s still a little battery. However, it has a battery life of 12 hours and 20 minutes, which is more than 2 hours more than the iPhone 12 small.
A 3,095mAh battery powers both the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro. That’s an improvement over the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro’s 2,815mAh batteries, but there’s a considerable gap.
On the whole, the iPhone 13 Pro Max has a larger 4,352mAh battery than the previous generation, which had a 3,687mAh battery. Experiments performed yielded a whopping 18 hours of screen time.
With the exception of the iPhone 13 mini, I believe that all of Apple’s new flagships should easily get you through the day.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max is likely to appeal to gamers and creative workers. The Pro Max boasts a huge ProMotion display for games, a 3x zoom camera, macro photography and ProRes video capabilities, and almost limitless battery life.
