When I first saw ESR’s iPhone Cloud Silicone Bumper Case range, I was intrigued to say the least. I mean I’ve always been a fan of slim phone cases that offer optimum protection but getting a Silicone Bumper Case was a first for me.
I have bought phone accessories and gear from ESR on multiple occasions in the past and was looking forward to receiving this case in the mail. At the time of writing this review, I have been using the Cloud Silicone Bumper Case for the last couple of weeks or so.
You’re probably here to read a review on this ESR bumper case before you take the plunge and get yourself one- so without wasting much time, let’s dive right into the pros and cons.
The Good!
Like I mentioned earlier, getting myself a bumper case was a first. The primary reason behind this purchase was because I did not want to cover up my new iPhone 12. The iPhone 12 series phones have a beautiful finish and you do want to be able to feel that without the extra bulkiness of a case covering the back.
This Cloud Silicone Bumper Case from ESR serves the purpose and how! I got the case in blue, but it is also available in white, black and red.
The first time I held the case, it seemed super sturdy and felt very smooth. The case itself is made of high-quality silicone that offers the user a great texture. Not going to lie, I liked the way it felt in my hands.
The case itself came packaged well and I liked the no-frills packaging that ESR sent it in. I am assuming that keeping their packaging simple and basic also allows them to keep prices of this case low, and hey, you won’t hear me complaining!
When I first tried to slip the case on, I faced a few bumps before I realized that one needs to slip the phone (front-facing you) into the case, rather than try and fit the case onto the phone. If you, like me, did not know this, I’ve just saved you a few frustrating seconds of your time. You are welcome! LOL!
Once the case was on, it felt like second skin. A few other reviews on the ESR site said that the cover was slightly loose, and I was a little apprehensive that this might happen to me too. However, I did not face that issue at all, and my case fits snugly and perfectly on my iPhone 12 Pro. I also used it on my husband’s iPhone 12 to see if the case would be loose on his phone (the pictures in this review are of the Cloud Silicone Bumper Case on his iPhone 12), but the case fit perfectly on his iPhone too.
I know how much I’d love to avoid accidents and dropping my phone, but the truth remains that for a clumsy person like me, a case like this one is a good buy. The raised edge protection protects the screen from bumps and shocks. The design of the case also ensures that your camera is protected from scratches and damage, which is a definite plus for me.
Of course, with the backless design of ESR’s Cloud Silicone Bumper Case, your phone is perfectly primed for wireless charging, without the constant hassle of having to remove the case to charge the phone. It works perfectly with the MagSafe charger as well as standard third-party wireless chargers.
The cutouts on the Cloud Silicone Bumper Case are perfectly aligned with the buttons and ports, making it super easy to use the volume buttons as well as the power button. My charging cable also fits into the charging port easily without having to remove the case.
However, because I had ordered this case from ESR, I did expect it to be of good quality. ESR has never failed to deliver amazing products at a great price point, and this time was no exception.
Speaking of prices, the Cloud Silicone Bumper Case (at the time of writing this review) costs AUD 15.67, reduced from the original price of AUD 22.39. This is a great time to snap up this product!
The Not So Good!
I am very satisfied with the overall quality of the Cloud Silicone Bumper Case. However, one of the few features that left me unsatisfied with this case was the fact that it seems to attract a lot of dust and random bits of fluff and fiber.
If you look closely at the pictures in this review, you will be able to understand what I mean. The case looks a little dusty, even if you have just given it a wipe.
Also, a good thing to remember is that this case is backless. This means that if you are prone to dropping your phone because you find the surface slippery, you should probably take a look at whether you would want to invest in a more traditional type of phone case. I have also recently reviewed ESR’s Pop! Style case range and I absolutely love the design of that range!
Another thing to consider is that when you buy this Cloud Silicone Bumper Case, you will have to get a screen protector separately. Fortunately, ESR’s website has a plethora of amazing screen protectors, and you will find a variety of options to suit your budget and style.
The Overall Verdict!
I would give the Cloud Silicone Bumper Case a solid 4 stars out of 5. The only reason this product does not get a full 5 stars is because of the dust factor as mentioned earlier. I am also super accident prone and hence would stick to a more traditional, fitted kind of case.
However, if you take care of your gadgets, do not hesitate to get the Cloud Silicone Bumper Case from ESR. The quality alone is worth recommending.
